As the largest agency in the state and the third largest corrections agency in the nation, the Florida Department of Corrections has more than 25,000 employees serving a critical need in society. We are responsible for the incarceration of more than 100,000 inmates in our correctional institutions and the supervision of more than 150,000 additional offenders in communities all across Florida. We strive to be a national pacesetter among government and criminal justice agencies and we are committed to successful re-entry and evidenced-based practices in correctional institutions, community corrections and central administration.
Our internships provide students with a meaningful professional experiential learning opportunity within the field of corrections. Our staff works collectively with students to structure learning experiences that integrate knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in professional correctional work settings.
