The atmosphere turned tense at times during Wednesday evening’s Gainesville mayoral debate as three candidates vying for the slot championed their beliefs and took swings at their opponents in an effort to gain the attention of voters.
The hour-long debate had incumbent Ed Braddy disagreeing with challenger Lauren Poe, a former commissioner, on how to deal with achieving a living wage, transportation and the biomass contract. Donald Shepherd Sr., the third candidate, also attended the debate.
The mayor is a voting member of the city commission and elected for a three-year term. READ MORE
